JOURNEY INTELLIGENCE / TECHNOLOGY

Intelligence that connects.

Travel inventory describes individual experiences. Journey Intelligence explores how those experiences can become something greater.

Tangent’s technology connects individual travel experiences into coherent, configurable journeys.

01 / THE ARCHITECTURE

One architecture. Many possibilities.

Journey Intelligence is conceived as a modular technology architecture, independent of any single travel provider, inventory source, or customer-facing application.

Partners supply compatible travel inventory; consuming applications handle presentation and booking.

Four independent architectural layers: alternative compatible inventory sources connect to a modular Journey Intelligence layer, which produces distinct structured journey configurations for traveler-facing applications or professional advisor tools. These are possible connections, not a required topology or an inventory aggregation service. The outputs are journey configurations, not bookings; consuming applications retain their presentation and booking responsibilities.

02 / THE FIRST ENGINE

Meet Argo. Intelligence at sea.

Purpose-built for sea journeys, Argo is the first operational expression of Tangent's Journey Intelligence technology.

Argo explores combinations across ships, cruise lines, destinations, and departure dates, evaluating which sailings can form a coherent itinerary guided by the traveler's preferences and journey requirements.

Tangent’s modular Journey Intelligence architecture is intended to support future engines for other modes of travel.

03 / CAPABILITIES

Built for the complexities of travel.

A connected journey is more than a sequence of cruises. It's a careful balance of geography, timing, continuity, and individual preferences.

THE CORE INTELLIGENCE

Making the connections.

  1. Geographic Awareness

Argo recognizes relationships between ports and destinations, allowing cruises to connect across compatible locations—not just identical departure and arrival ports.

  2. Temporal Awareness

By considering sailing schedules, travel dates, and connection windows, Argo identifies combinations that can fit together within the available travel period.

  3. Journey Continuity

Argo evaluates individual sailings as parts of a complete journey, identifying sequences that maintain continuity from one cruise to the next.

SHAPED BY THE TRAVELER

One vision. Many possible journeys.

Every traveler has a different idea of the perfect journey. Argo incorporates individual preferences—including travel dates, destinations, cruise lines, journey duration, and acceptable connections—into its exploration of possible itineraries.

Rather than prescribing a single route, Argo can reveal multiple journey configurations that satisfy those requirements, giving travelers and travel advisors more possibilities to explore.

One set of traveler preferences informs Journey Intelligence and can produce three distinct, alternative journey configurations.

INTERMEDIATE LAND STAYS

The journey doesn't end at the port.

Some of the most rewarding parts of a sea journey happen on land.

One continuous journey: Journey start, a longer Cruise 1, traveler-requested time ashore, a small connection interval, a shorter Cruise 2, and Journey end. Cruise 1 directly abuts the requested stay; the buffer follows the stay. The endpoints coincide with the first cruise's start and the final cruise's end. The schematic illustrates sequence, not specific durations or a booked transfer.

Argo can incorporate traveler-requested intermediate land stays directly into multi-cruise journey construction, exploring combinations of sailings that accommodate time ashore between cruises. Unlike simply adding days before departure or after arrival, these stays become part of the journey itself—connecting one cruise experience to the next while allowing time to explore a destination.

04 / INTEGRATION

Designed to work with what's already there.

Your inventory. Your platform. New journey possibilities.

Tangent develops standalone API-based Journey Intelligence modules designed to extend the capabilities of existing travel platforms—not replace them.

Argo is designed to work with cruise inventory from different sources, whether supplied directly by cruise lines or through established industry data providers.

Argo is designed to introduce journey-building capabilities into your own search, planning, and booking experiences.
