It started with a journey.
What began as the challenge of planning several connected cruises sparked a different approach to travel planning: start with the journey you envision, rather than the individual sailings available. The technology to make that possible followed.
01 / OUR ORIGIN
A different kind of travel problem.
The original plan was simple: take a long vacation.
But connecting several cruises into one extraordinary journey turned out to be surprisingly complicated. Finding individual sailings was easy enough. Figuring out how they could work together—across ships, destinations, schedules, and time ashore—was something else entirely.
That challenge led to a different question: What if travel planning began with the journey you wanted to experience, rather than the individual cruises available?
Following that question opened up an entirely new approach to planning. What began as a personal exploration gradually evolved into Argo, a purpose-built Journey Intelligence engine, and CruiseWeaver, an application that brings the concept to life.
Along the way, something unexpected happened. A vacation-planning exercise became Tangent Travel Technologies.

Travel planning has traditionally begun with individual offerings—cruises, flights, hotels, and destinations. But the journeys we imagine rarely fit so neatly into those categories.
At Tangent, we believe planning should begin with the journey itself. Where you want to go, what you want to experience, and how the pieces might come together.
That shift in perspective is what inspired Journey Intelligence. Rather than creating more travel inventory or another way to search it, we're developing the intelligence to connect what's already there—turning individual offerings into possibilities that are greater than the sum of their parts.
Because sometimes, the most interesting opportunities aren't found by creating something new. They're discovered by looking at what's already there differently.

A tangent worth following.
Behind Tangent is an unusual combination of experience: more than 50 cruises and 400 days at sea, alongside decades spent working at the intersection of creativity, complex technologies, and business.
The idea emerged from a traveler's perspective, not a conventional technology startup. But bringing that idea to life required a different set of skills—the ability to connect disciplines, question established approaches, and turn complex concepts into practical solutions.
Today, Tangent Travel Technologies is focused on developing Journey Intelligence: modular technology that enables new ways to design complete journeys from existing travel offerings.
Argo is the first operational expression of that vision. CruiseWeaver demonstrates what becomes possible when the intelligence is placed directly in the hands of travelers.

Argo is Tangent's first operational Journey Intelligence engine, purpose-built for travel by sea. But the idea that inspired it—begin with the journey, rather than the individual offerings—has possibilities far beyond cruising.
Our ambition is to explore where that thinking might lead, developing specialized intelligence engines that bring new perspectives to other forms of travel.
The original tangent was unexpected. Where it leads next will be guided by the same curiosity—and a commitment to turning promising ideas into something real.
